Day 1: Addis Ababa City Tours
Dive into the deep history of humanity at the National Museum, meeting our ancient ancestor, Visit the first palace and Church at Mount Entoto visit the Merkato Market then transfer to your hotel.
Day 2: Fly to Mekele Begin Danakil Desert Tours
You’ll fly to Mekele, meet your 4×4 car, and drive into the Danakil desert. Your mind will struggle to process the impossible landscape as you walk across salt flats that crackle underfoot and stand before the psychedelic, neon-colored springs of Dallol—a place that feels less like Earth and more like Io, Jupiter’s volcanic moon. This is the ultimate Dallol tours experience, culminating in a sunset so dramatic it looks painted behind the ancient salt caravans.
Day 3: The Night Hike to Erta Ale
Under a blanket of stars, you’ll trek across ancient lava fields to the summit of Erta Ale. Your reward? Peering over the rim into a cauldron of furious, bubbling lava—one of only a handful of permanent lava lakes on the planet. The sight, sound, and heat of the Earth’s raw power are humbling and utterly unforgettable. You’ll sleep at the crater’s edge, with the glow of the “Gates of Hell” lighting up your campsite.
Day 4: A Volcanic Sunrise & The Journey Home
Wake up for a final view of the volcanic caldera in the cool morning light—a completely different, yet equally spectacular, perspective. Visit the salt Lake of Afdera, Salt Mining and an Endless Afar people camel caravans, you’ll drive back to Mekele, your camera full and your spirit forever marked by the power of the Danakil Depression. You’ll fly back to Addis.
Day 5: Domestic flight to Arbaminch
You will be transferred to the airport for your domestic flight to Arbaminch. Upon arrival, our car will pick you up from the airport, and then you will drive to the Dorze people village, known for their weaving and remarkable house-building skills. Depending on the day, we will also visit the local market and participate in traditional dances. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to try traditional food made from the false banana tree.
Day 6: Drive to Karat town
Drive to Karat town, and en route, you will enjoy a boat trip on Lake Chamo to visit the crocodiles. After arriving in Karat town, you will visit the Konso Tribes and explore their fascinating cultural villages, including the UNESCO registered cultural landscaping system.
Day 7: Drive to Turmi
After visiting the cultural center of the Konso people, you will proceed to drive to Turmi town. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to visit the Arbore tribe village. Upon arrival in Turmi, you will check in to your accommodation. Later, at your leisure, you will walk to the nearest Hammer people village to observe their day-to-day lifestyle.
Day 8: Excursion to Omorate then drive to Jinka
Today, you will have two options. The first option is to visit the Dassanach tribe, or you can choose to visit the Karo Tribe, known for their body painting. After visiting one of these colorful tribes, proceed driving to Jinka town. En route, depending on the day, you will have the opportunity to visit Key Afer market and a Benna tribe. Also you will visit the Mursi people, known for the women who wear clay discs on their lower lips. Afterward drive to your hotel
Day 9: Drive to Mursi then Domestic flight to Addis Ababa
Drive to Ari village who are well known by handcrafts visit their village and try to make traditional food with them after enjoying your day transfer to the airport for your domestic flight to Addis Ababa. After arrival, you will take a mini city tour of Addis Ababa, including the museum. Later, join our delightful farewell dinner at a cultural restaurant. Depending on your flight schedule, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure.
